Maine Medical Center is a nonprofit, private corporation governed by volunteer trustees from the communities we serve. MMC serves as a community hospital for the people of greater Portland, Maine and as the premier tertiary care center for northern New England.
In 2005, MMC presented Chest Medicine Associates with the “Maine Medical Center Physician-Hospital Organization” Electronic Prescribing Reward.
The New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland (NERHP), a joint venture of Maine Medical Center and Healthsouth, LLC, is the only freestanding acute rehabilitation hospital in Maine. Since 1986, we have been providing quality inpatient and outpatient physical rehabilitation services. Our results-oriented therapy programs help people improve their level of function and reclaim their role in the community, at home and at work. NERHP is Joint Commission accredited with a disease-specific certification in stroke care and licensed by the State of Maine.
The Thoracic Oncology Center was created to meet the unique needs of people with cancers in the chest (“thorax”). Patients are referred to the center because something abnormal was discovered in the patient’s lung or chest, and the Thoracic Oncology Center will provide every patient with the best possible treatment.
The center has a multidisciplinary approach, meaning that it has a team of specialists who meet weekly to discuss all patients and provide recommendations for treatment. The team includes physicians who specialize in the lungs, radiologists, thoracic surgeons, medical cancer doctors, radiation cancer doctors, pathologists, registered nurses and social workers.
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) provides fellowship and educational support to patients with pulmonary hypertension and primary pulmonary hypertension, their families, physicians and other medical professionals.
