Physician Teaching Program

Chest Medicine Associates coordinates and participates in the Maine Medical Center/University of Vermont Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Fellowship training program. These are physicians who have already completed training in internal medicine and are now specializing in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. Fellows see and follow ambulatory patients in the outpatient pulmonary setting under the supervision of CMA Attending physicians. Fellows participate in outpatient setting throughout their years of training. The Pulmonary/Cystic Fibrosis Program conducts multidisciplinary clinic sessions where nutritional, physical and respiratory therapy, social service, nursing, and physician services collaborate for patient care. Interesting and/or difficult patients are reviewed during the weekly clinical conference.

Therefore, it is possible that when you are seen in CMA's office, a Pulmonary Fellow or Resident of MMC will be assisting the physician that you are scheduled to see at your evaluation. If you have questions regarding this program, please speak with the attending Chest Medicine Associates physician at the time of your visit.
