Sleep Medicine

Millions of Americans suffer from sleep disorders that affect the quality of our sleep. Sleep disorders tend to interfere with our physical and mental health and should be treated. Sleep studies, or polysomnograms, regularly take place at the Maine Sleep Institute to analyze sleep patterns and help doctors decide on a treatment.

Chest Medicine Associates treats a number of sleep disorders for the optimal health of its patients, including:

  • Sleep Apnea – When breathing stops for 10 seconds or longer during sleep. This may occur many times during the night.
  • Insomnia – Inability to get adequate sleep or have trouble falling asleep night after night.
  • Narcolepsy – Disturbed sleep patterns that can cause uncontrollable sleeping at random times throughout the day.
